Guidelines For Becoming A Global Partner With Temple Baptist Church

  • The first step is to consult with an Elder in regards to a person’s interest in missions

  • We require a minimum of 6 months training in the local church prior to approving the individual as a candidate

  • Temple Baptist Church desires to partner with agencies whose emphasis is evangelism, life-long discipleship, and church planting

  • Our global partners are considered to be representatives of the Lord and of Temple Baptist Church

Guidelines For Selecting An Agency

  • The agency with which the global outreach partner wishes to be associated with must be approved by Temple Baptist Church

  • Temple Baptist Church sees itself as the sending agency

  • We desire to be involved in the evaluation process with our global outreach partners

How the process works

  • After a person has consulted with the Elders and upon their recommendation, a personal interview will be held with the Global Outreach Team

  • The Global Outreach Team will interview the candidate and determine what support (if any) will be recommended for the candidate

  • The chair of the Global Outreach Team will meet with the candidate and inform him/her of the decision and of the next steps

“You shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Acts 1:8b

Infant/Parental Dedication

What is Child Dedication?

One of the ways of demonstrating that you follow Christ is that you surrender yourself completely to Him. This includes your most precious belongings, such as your children. The act of dedicating your children to the Lord is an act of surrender which God will bless.

Why dedicate your children to the Lord?

Child dedication has a long history going all the way to Genesis 22 when Abraham was willing to give up his son Isaac to God. Others followed this practice such as Hannah in 1 Samuel 1 when after a long season of infertility, Hannah gave her firstborn son back to God to serve Him. Fast-forward to the New Testament in Luke 2:21-38, where Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the Temple to dedicate and circumcise Him. In that instance, just like today, the dedication of the child was an opportunity for people to be introduced to Jesus.

What is the process for Infant/Parent Dedication?

In preparation for the Infant/Parent Dedication service we ask:

  1. That you confess Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. There are just two ways to live your life; under the rule/reign of Christ or under self-rule.

  2. That you regularly attend Temple Baptist Church. An incredible amount of blessing from the Lord is available through His church family. Obtaining God’s best for your family requires frequently gathering together with the people of God for prayer, Bible study, fellowship and care.

  3. That you meet with one of the pastors to receive guidance for parenting from God’s Word. In preparation for this meeting, please read Give Them Grace: Dazzling Your Kids with the Love of Jesus by Elyse Fitzpatrick, or Parenting by Paul Tripp.

“Hear my son, your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. Indeed, they are a graceful wreath to your head and ornaments to your neck.” Proverbs 1:8-9

Water Baptism

Why should a person be baptized?

  • To follow the example set by Christ.
“At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.” Mark 1:9

  • Jesus commands it.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20

  • It demonstrates that a person is a Christian.
“…many of the Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptized.” Acts 18:8

What is the meaning of Baptism?

  • It illustrates Christ’s death, burial & resurrection.
“Having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him through your faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead.” Colossians 2:12

  • It illustrates new life as a Christian.
“Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4

Why be baptized by immersion?

  • Jesus was baptized that way.
“As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on Him.” Matthew 3:16,

Who should be baptized?

  • Every person who has repented of sin and trusted Christ for salvation.
“Those who accepted His message were baptized.” Acts 2:41

Next Steps:

  1. Write out a personal testimony of your faith in 125 words or less. This should contain a clear profession of faith in Jesus Christ. (This written testimony is not intended to be a “life story.” It is your God story—a brief summary of how you came to trust Christ as Lord.)

  2. Contact the church office to schedule an appointment with a pastor.

  3. Bring a copy of your testimony to your appointment where a pastor will review your testimony with you.
